Good Thursday, Ms. Day,
Thank You for forwarding information about next Monday's meeting at noon at the Estes Park (EP) Senior Center. I was able to insert paid advertisements of the meeting into both EP newspapers.
However, at the previous meeting, most of the audience wanted and expected that the agenda of the December 12 meeting would be to answer questions which that meeting did not have time to cover. They expect to hear answers to their questions (or acknowledgement that those queries have not been investigated)
These are some of the questions not answered at that earlier meeting:
---Why aren't LCRAR actions publicized in press releases? Why not disclose the entire plan now?
---Is Larimer County Addressing using stealth to minimize public objections?
---What are the "several other roads" that are going to be renamed (on Sept 23 the anonymous and unresponsive answer was that there are "We have identified ~150 roads in the Estes Valley with naming conflicts for resolution." This is a direct contradiction to the Your answer to Dr. Swaney.)
---When have the people most affected been asked their opinions? Again the non-response was "defne the most Affected" Of course the people whose lives are disrupted by renaming roads are the same as the people most likely to need assistance at those locations.
---Who are the people active in Larimer County Addressing Teams? (the Sept 23 answer was "Your local EMS directors and chief, alia . . ." no people were named}
---When did anecdotal experience replace evidence based decision making?
---When has the general public been asked their opinion of renaming roads?
---What is the written criteria for renaming roads? (eg Hwy 36 and Hwy 34 are problematic. So is Laramie and Larimer)
---What has been the experience of other jurisdictions who have renamed streets & roads?
---What does experience of renaming roads show to be the relative weight of not knowing unfamiliar names versus confusing names?
---Why does the Larimer County Addressing Team get 16 years and victims of renaming get 45 days?
---What is the Town of Estes Park role in renaming roads?
---When they were consulted, what was the response to renaming roads by other public and private systems which need location information? E,g. FedEx, UPS. Uber, Public Service, cable providers, delivery services?
---Are penalties for not following demands for renaming roads equal to penalties for ignoring rules of initial road naming?
---What is the effect on emergency response time of having many new and unfamiliar road names?
---What category of people has called in the most emergencies, locals or visitors?
---What is the relative weight of certain disruptions versus possible tragedies?
---Can a coterie of emergency responders with vivid experiences weigh all the consequences of renaming roads? (Are experts in responding to emergency necessarily experts in communications?)
---What name shall we give to local government when citizens most affected are refused a choice?
---What are the current and shortly available technologic location systems?
---What weight should be given to public response to a policy?
---Whom should citizens call when county government errs?
---When else have good intentions led to unintended harm?
---How will long ago friends find me?
---Is the tail wagging the dog?
---Is local democracy dead?
