Dear John,

This week Fresh Water News reports on Aurora's efforts to build its biggest storage project yet in Park County, with the Wild Horse Reservoir estimated to cost $600 million to $800 million. In other news, Upper Colorado River Basin tribes have won a place in negotiations on how to operate, and save the river.

In addition, we're tracking demands from Western lawmakers for Congress to set aside millions more to help save the Colorado River; Utah's request to dismiss a lawsuit over problems at the Great Salt Lake; and concerns about spring runoff in the Colorado River Basin.

Fast-growing Aurora is gearing up to build its biggest water storage bucket yet

The $600 million to $800 million project is in Park County and will store 93,000 acre-feet of water, nearly double the size of the city's nearby Spinney Mountain Reservoir
