On July 10, CCI hosted Human Services Office Hours to discuss status of human services re-org and provide an update on the SNAP Cost Share work. Key takeaways for commissioners include: North Highland Group has been hired as the Third Party Facilitator. This was a universally accepted vendor, and we look forward to getting to work. The Implementation Work Group will have its first meeting next Friday, July 17. Advocacy for Fair Cost-Sharing: CCI has been actively illustrating the broader realities of county budgets to the state and other negotiating parties, leveraging data from our 2026 Budget Pressures Survey. We are firmly pushing back against the potential worst-case scenario 60-40% SNAP cost-share split. Call for County Stories: To strengthen our position, CCI staff needs specific (though not necessarily attributable) examples of how current budget pressures are impacting your counties. Please share any recent budget reductions, delayed projects, or hiring freezes to help us demonstrate the real-world impact of these state proposals. Next Steps & Upcoming Modeling: The state has conducted extensive modeling on various cost-sharing scenarios. We will have State partners join us to discuss these proposals and get your feedback during our next meeting on July 24 at noon.
