The bill creates a board to evaluate grant applications. The applicants must offer recipients high quality education and extra curricular programming and/or provide families with health and social services to improve prenatal and childhood readiness, student achievement, and workforce opportunities. Program grants may be directed toward housing, child care, education, nutrition, and supports for children with disabilities. Support for after-school activities may include sports, arts, and fitness. Post-secondary work force support may include work-based learning, credential acquisitions, and apprenticeships.The Colorado Department of State will oversee programs and funding along with the Cradle to Career board. |
