Dear Mr. Kefalas,

I am contacting you today to express how deeply committed my family and I are to our Terry Shores neighborhood and surrounding areas.   We are writing because we're asking you to please oppose the concrete plant being built at the south end of Terry Lake in Ft. Collins.

It has meant so much to us over the years to host exchange students from all over the world to our home in Terry Shores.  As a result of living here, our location has provided us the opportunity to allow people from Germany, France, and Spain to learn about nature and experience the beauty of Terry Lake during their time in Ft. Collins.  Being far from their native home, they are able to have a sense of peace and relaxation.   A gift such as this goes beyond anything that money can buy.... an experience of tranquility.

Since the turn of the century, as you probably know by now from others' concerns, this area has been identified as a haven for all kinds of wildlife.  The Terry Lake Recreation Association was formed years ago with the main goal to protect and preserve this rare, natural environment.  The term, "Bird Island" is used locally to identify the registered bird sanctuary at the lake .

Since the concrete plant proposal meeting, it is clear to me this is a very harmful idea for many reasons, not just the environment and established wildlife.  Residents have purposely chosen to live here for the quality of life.  A proposed operation of this magnitude creates a negative health impact on residents living close by producing inevitable, irreversible air quality issues for people and animals.

Furthermore, we already hear noise pollution from Hwy. 287 because the road was widened last year.   Noise carries expediently across water adversely affecting everyone living within miles from it  (also compounded by vehicles downshifting on US Hwy 1 from Wellington.)   Therefore, creating a manufacturer facility would only produce even more road noise.

Ft. Collins City planner, Katelyn Puga in a letter dated Jan 29, 2024 has explained why building this concrete facility does not coincide with the values of Ft. Collins.  Clearly, the most reasonable decision is to find a better suited location for the concrete facility.

Thank you,  we appreciate you and your commitment to a healthy Ft. Collins  !

Best regards,
