Dear John,

This week Fresh Water News covers a new project to preserve streamflows on South St. Vrain Creek that relies on cellphone technology to provide greater control in a remote region. The area is historically significant due to an 1882 court case that solidified the Colorado's water rights system.

In addition, we're tracking a new tribal water rights settlement in Arizona, possible drawbacks in a plan to conserve ag water in California's Imperial Valley, and the struggle in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to treat flood waters coming down from wildfire burn scars.

How a cellphone is helping water finally get to South St. Vrain Creek

It’s been over a century since water flowed in certain parts of South St. Vrain Creek. Here’s how water managers, a cell tower and some not-new technology may have solved a very old situation.
