Colorado is at a defining moment.
Across our state, families are already feeling the fear and uncertainty created by growing barriers to healthcare access. Policies like the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) threaten to push hundreds of thousands of people further away from the care they need to survive and thrive.
But this story is not only about crisis.
|
|
➡️ It is about community.➡️ It is about courage. ➡️ It is about what we choose to build together.
Because when healthcare systems fail, communities rise.
|
|
|
|
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN COLORADO?
|
|
The impact of federal and state healthcare changes is already unfolding:
➡️ Hundreds of thousands could lose healthcare coverage ➡️ Uninsured rates are expected to increase dramatically ➡️ Clinics and hospitals are facing overwhelming strain ➡️ Colorado’s healthcare infrastructure is at risk
📅 By December 2026, eligibility barriers intensify. 📅 By October 2027, deeper funding cuts begin taking effect.
This is not only about Medicaid.
This is about whether working families, children, elders, immigrants, and vulnerable communities will be able to access care with dignity.
And the truth is:
When one community loses access to care, the entire healthcare system is impacted.

|
|
|
|
The Immigrant Health Access Collaborative (IHAC) was created because communities cannot wait for solutions.
IHAC is more than a meeting.
It is a growing statewide movement rooted in health equity, collaboration, and action.
We bring together: - Community organizations
- Healthcare providers
- Public health leaders
- Legal advocates
- Educators
- Community health workers
- Grassroots leaders
Our mission: Protect and expand access to healthcare before families are left behind. We believe healthcare should never depend on immigration status, language, income, or fear.
Because when systems fail: - Emergency rooms become the only option
- Preventable illnesses become life-threatening crises
- Families delay care until it is too late
- Communities suffer silently
IHAC exists to organize solutions, strengthen partnerships, share resources, and ensure that no family has to navigate these challenges alone.
Together, we are building a healthier Colorado for everyone.

WHY FREE COMMUNITY CLINICS MATTER
|
|
Free community clinics are not charity. They are essential healthcare infrastructure.
When immigrant families have access to preventive care, the entire healthcare system becomes stronger. Community clinics help:
✔ Reduce emergency room overcrowding ✔ Lower long-term healthcare costs ✔ Improve public health outcomes ✔ Support Colorado’s workforce ✔ Increase preventive and early care access ✔ Improve maternal and child health ✔ Reduce uncompensated hospital costs ✔ Provide culturally and linguistically responsive care ✔ Strengthen partnerships between healthcare systems and communities
These clinics save lives.
They restore dignity.
They create trust where fear once existed.
