Hello John, I am writing to strongly oppose this batch plant at the site of the Aragon metal recycling plant. For several reasons, this is the wrong place for this operation. It’s backyard is my backyard, as I live on Terry Lake, and not only will I see the 40 foot smokestack, I will receive it’s dust, noise, and smell. This plant needs to be out in the county, not a residential area. I have always felt smokestacks and exhaust mufflers need to be installed such that those that create the smoke breathe it themselves, put the stacks at ground level and mufflers in front of the vehicle. I absolutely guarantee that if this plant is put in, our lakeshore will be covered in concrete foam.
Too, the number of vehicles emanating from this plant will overwhelm our Douglas Road and north Shields with cement mixer trucks. The first dead body I ever saw was a cement truck driver whose truck tipped over. They are terribly top heavy and cannot maneuver. Douglas and Shields are bicycle routes, and the additional traffic will be scary to those of us who cycle these roads daily. They are already scary due to the cement dust semi trailers from the cement plant who use the roads constantly.
I am tired of defending my home and neighborhood from development and change. First Thornton, and now a concrete plant. Please defend us and our clean and quiet neighborhood. We count on you. Please do the right thing here. Sincerely, Steve and Barb Hyland, 3400 Terry Point Drive.
