Harris was appointed to the position by former clerk Angela Myers, who had just been reelected but resigned from the position for personal reasons.
The ceremony was presided over by Judge Susan Blanco.
Harris, a Republican, defeated challenger Wyatt Schwendeman-Curtis, and thanked her staff and her family.
“This opportunity is truly a privilege, and I promise to dedicate myself fully to building a clerk’s office that serves the needs of Larimer County with innovation and excellence,” Harris said during her remarks prior to taking her oath of office. “This is just the beginning, and I’m excited about the journey ahead.”
Stephens, who has served as a commissioner since her election in 2020, expressed her gratitude for the ability to be sworn in in person, pointing out that when she was first sworn into office the COVID-19 pandemic was near its height. She also thanked her family and her campaign team, as well as her fellow commissioners.
“I’m thankful to the people of Larimer County for entrusting me with this role again,” she concluded. “I plan to commit to doing this work for four more years with all the passion and energy that I have.”
Shadduck-McNally also thanked her campaign team, her family and the people of Larimer County.
“To this community, all of you in this room, Sheriff (John) Feyen, my colleagues, the staff and to the community I am honored to serve, I am humbled to stand here today to take this second oath of office,” she said. “And I want to start by saying thank you.”
McLaughlin was the last to be sworn in, and thanked the attorneys and staff in his office and his family.
“We’re the largest law firm in northern Colorado,” he said. “We serve a geographic area larger than two East Coast states. So there is a lot going on, and while we’ve achieved a lot, there is still a lot to be achieved.”
