FW: LCO and County UPK/CCCAP Info Sessions

Good morning everyone,

 

I thought you might appreciate knowing about these meetings and the continued work the CO Dept. of Early Childhood – and county human services experts! – are doing to try and implement UPK.

 

The tricky spot everyone is trying to work through right now (in my layman terms) are the following:

1.) Blending/Stacking UPK funding and CCAP funding is proving to be a challenge (in large part due to the federal restrictions surrounding CCAP funding)

2.) It is possible that providers serving children who are dually enrolled in CCAP and UPK may get paid twice  

3.) Changes are needed to state IT programs to help mitigate #2 from happening

 

The attached power point provides more context.

 

Our next two meetings with CDEC are:

Thursday, September 28^th from 11-12

Friday, December 8^th from 2-3pm

There have been two recent articles/coverage around the roll out of UPK that might interest you.  They are:

County directors now meet regularly with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC). CCI’s next meeting with CDEC is Thursday, September 28^th from 11:00-12:00 pm
