The Ranch's Impact on the Larimer County Community – Interview
The Ranch Events Complex prides itself on being a place that all Larimer County residents can enjoy. From hosting equine activities to concerts to hockey games, there seems to be a little something for everyone. During the first two phases of the Master Plan, three of the projects have focused on the expansion and improvement of youth and livestock activities. These include the building of the new 4-H, Youth, and Community Livestock Arena, improvements to the MAC Equipment, Inc. Indoor Arena and an additional outdoor riding arena.
To Madison and Morgan Brittan, two high school sisters involved in Larimer County's 4-H program, The Ranch Events Complex has been a place to connect with their community and share their love and knowledge of agriculture. They shared their thoughts on the construction projects, programs they are involved in and the impact of The Ranch Events Complex, below.
- What programs, that are held at The Ranch, are you currently involved in?
"We show cattle and lambs through 4-H, and I (Madison) compete in photography as well. We have both attended the Steirwalt Beef Camps as well as several showmanship clinics throughout the years. We have had the opportunity to be a part of the meat quality assurance programs, too."
-
How has The Ranch Events Complex helped you connect with your community?
"During the Larimer County Fair, while exhibiting our cattle and lambs, we have had the opportunity to connect with the community and share our knowledge about the importance of agriculture and why it's such a big part of our lives."
-
How will the new livestock arena help foster the future of livestock activities and agriculture at The Ranch and in Larimer County?
"As the facility grows, so will the opportunities and involvement for 4-H and livestock exhibitors. We believe the public interest will grow and it will allow us to further showcase the projects we work so hard on all year. With a more updated facility, the community will be able to come in and further understand the processes and importance of the livestock industry. We hope this will help grow the future of agriculture and continue the traditions of livestock exhibitors."

What is your favorite memory at The Ranch?
"Because we have been showing with each other for many years, the fair is like a big reunion and celebration of our hard work. After the beef show, exhibitors had to breakdown their calves (wash the glue and paint out). As we did this, a big water fight broke out and kept us entertained for quite some time. Buckets were filled and dumped on each other while some were using their calves as a shield. The situation really brought us together and closed out an amazing fair week. Not only did it allow for fun between friends, but we met lots of new exhibitors that we now call friends as well. The Ranch has fostered many new friendships for us that will last a lifetime."
