Letter from EC to CCAT Membership

August 15, 2022

Dear CCAT Members,

Big thanks to those who joined us for CCAT’s Summer Membership Meeting. We appreciate the candid feedback and commitment to strengthening and increasing CCAT’s effectiveness as an organization. As agreed, CCAT’s Executive Committee and staff, in consultation with our facilitator, outlined key takeaways and next steps from that conversation. As always, we welcome your feedback as we work with you to make progress.

Key Takeaways/Opportunities for Change and Growth

  • Establish CCAT as an independent organization.
  • Evaluate organizational/administrative structure and leadership.
  • Evaluate legislative decision-making processes and establish clear leadership roles.
  • Revisit CCAT’s Policy Platform, propose updates if needed, and communicate new Platform clearly to new and returning CCAT members.
  • Revisit the consensus based decision making of CCAT and clearly define consensus if maintained.

Next Steps/Existing Executive Committee & Staff Action Items

  • Provide analysis of the pros and cons of various organizational structures for CCAT.
  • Develop a draft budget including new organizational costs and ongoing annual expenses.
  • Schedule an Ad Hoc Committee meeting to discuss governing structure & legislative decision making.
  • Develop a membership communication plan & provide a list of platform options for communication.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities of staff, lobby team and leadership for membership consideration.
  • Determine membership support for an independent organizational structure and implement accordingly.
  • Select dates for Fall Membership Meeting.

Many of these action items are urgent and need to be completed ASAP in order to give staff adequate time to prepare for the 2023 Legislative Session. Please watch out for additional CCAT emails this summer and fall.

We value the thoughtful discussions and feedback shared at the Summer Meeting. CCAT’s membership and influence has grown exponentially since our founding in 2017. We look forward to working with you all to make CCAT stronger and more effective to address the needs of your constituents and all Coloradoans. As the current Executive Committee, we highly value your input and look forward to moving forward together.

Sincerely,

CCAT Executive Committee

Hilary, Randy, Emma, & Beth
