Participation for the Bronze Level in our Leadership Development Program in 2025 is open county wide for interested leaders. Since the program began in 2022, we’ve had 41% of Larimer County supervisors participate.
This year, we have space for 100 participants, with less than 20 spaces remaining. We encourage you to visit our webpage for more details.

There are three (3) in-person classes (Crucial Conversations, Lead by Design Basics 1, and Recognizing and Addressing Bias in the Workplace) and two (2) self-paced activities required. To be considered for the Silver Level leadership program in 2026, these items must be completed in 2025.

There is no cost to staff or departments/offices to participate in this program. We are primarily looking for participants who either currently supervise and/or have been identified as emerging leaders.

Please email Nicole Berg or Christine Kuehnast immediately if you are interested in participating, or if you have an employee that you think would be a good fit for the program. If you are interested in this training, please reach out to get your supervisor's support to participate before emailing Nicole or Christine.

We will accept the first 100 employees who contact us, and welcome any questions you or your supervisor might have. Thank you!

Hi Commissioner,

You are always welcome to join us if you'd like to do so. The email was not meant to suggest that you participate. It was a countywide email to invite everyone who may be interested so we could reach our goal of 100 participants. We are almost there. :)

The in person classes have 5 different sessions (dates/times) for participants to choose from, so people can pick what fits their schedules best.

Please let me know what other questions you have and if you'd like to join us. :)

Have a great day!

Hello Nicole,

Thank you for sharing this information about the remaining openings for the Bronze Level leadership training program, and I reviewed the website for more details. Are you suggesting that I should apply for this leadership training? When are the in-person training sessions?

Hi Commissioner Kefalas,

You won't be able to see the sessions to enroll, unless we open up access to it for you as a participant. We are currently at capacity for our Bronze Level and no longer have any openings. I also agree with you that your attendance as an elected official may impact the sessions. If we ever offer any of these courses for elected officials or a group of department heads, then I will let you know so you can consider attending.

Thank you for your interest in the topics! I appreciate that!

Hi Nicole,

Time is always an issue with the commissioners. Nevertheless, I would be interested in attending some of the sessions if my schedule permits, and I am particularly intrigued by the 3 topics listed below, although I went to the Learning Center but could not see the listing of the sessions. Thanks for helping me navigate this, and I am still not sure I can commit; also do not want to disrupt the sessions with my presence - being an elected official and all that.

The Bronze level focuses on the leader learning and understanding their individual tendencies, strengths, and opportunities for development. Topics  cover how to get results from conversations and communication, how to recognize and understand bias in the workplace, a leadership style assessment, and you'll begin your conscious leadership journey by learning about leading above the line, the drama triangle and a collaborative approach to conflict. The program begins every January and ends in December.

  • Attend Lead by Design Basic Course 1 which is ½ a day or 4 hours (Choose from 5 sessions with up to 25 people per session in the Learning Center)
  • Attend a 2-day Crucial Conversations course (5 sessions to choose from in the Learning Center)
  • Attend Recognizing and Addressing Bias in the Workplace course (5 sessions to choose from in the Learning Center)
