Elie Schwartz, the New York real estate developer accused by investors of embezzling more than $50M, is finally set to have his day in court.
The Nightingale Properties CEO is scheduled for an arraignment hearing next week in federal court, the result of an investigation by the Department of Justice's criminal fraud division and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Atlanta.
It's unclear what charges are expected to be unsealed, but Schwartz has been accused of using investor funds to buy luxury watches, pay off credit cards and gamble on stocks.
Bisnow Atlanta Reporter Jarred Schenke has the scoop.
