Hello,
As the weather cools and the leaves begin to fall, we know that the year is winding down. At CASA of Larimer County, it’s been a productive year so far! We have added Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) training, expanded our Fostering Futures and Teen Challenge Event, and offered group Nurturing Parenting Lessons for the first time. This year, the Magistrate began referring every new Dependency & Neglect case to CASA. Our Court Appointed Special Advocate program has served almost as many children this year as in all of 2021. The Family Connections program has seen a significant increase in families reaching out for services. The need in our community is significant and it will take strategy, dedication, and creativity to ensure that CASA of Larimer County is fulfilling its mission. I am so grateful to our staff who rise to meet this need, empowering children and families, each day.
Our Security and Accessibility Upgrade Project at the Harmony House is on track, still in the planning stages. We continue to raise funds with the support of a matching donation from the Noel B. Shuler Foundation. We are excited to be able to add space and increase safety for our staff, children, and families.
As we plan for 2023, many things remain uncertain, but we will ensure that we continue to grow in a way that best serves our children. We are incredibly grateful for your ongoing support. In the many ways that you each give, please know that we appreciate your commitment to CASA of Larimer County.

While many professional case workers have a great deal of cases, a Court Appointed Special Advocate is unique in that they work with one child or sibling set at a time and have more capacity to help find solutions to various issues. The volunteer role is special and focused, and for many children and their families in the Dependency & Neglect Court, a CASA’s close attention and care creates opportunities for the child to thrive (that would be hard to achieve otherwise).
Thanks in large part to their CASA, a mom and her children will move into a new home of their very own. This family has moved from one domestic violence shelter to another over the course of the case, not able to find housing stability, and safety. With so much on this family’s plate, the support and advocacy of their CASA volunteer has truly helped to change this family’s story. Their CASA, John, has stayed connected to each child–travelling more than 100 miles to see them. John’s regular visits with the children provided consistency and normalcy during a time of great transition. For one of the boys, this meant eating chicken wings and watching his favorite football team at a local restaurant. While John was an incredible support to the children’s mother, he also made space and time to let the kids just be kids. John’s persistence in researching and collaborating with other agencies, and in working with mom, ultimately led to a permanent home for the family. We’re grateful for volunteer advocates like John, who tirelessly champion the safety and wellbeing of families and children in our community who need extra support through challenges.

The Appreciation & Awareness Reception
was a Great Night!

|
Thank you to all of our stakeholders who attended our Appreciation & Awareness Reception on Friday, September 9th! It was fantastic to see so many wonderful faces. A special thank you to UCHealth, the presenting sponsor, O'Dell Brewing Company, Serious Texas BBQ, Precision Landscape and Maintenance, Eileen's Colossal Cookies, Yard Life, and Chris Musial as our musical guest. It was a fun evening celebrating our volunteers, donors, board members, staff, and our community who are passionate about our mission. The reception gave us a chance to thank our wonderful supporters for all they do to help children who have experienced abuse and neglect in Larimer County. We are grateful to each of you!
