Hello. My name is Patricia Babbitt.I am a 30+ year resident of Fort Collins, a long-time ESL teacher, a mother of two, and a nature lover.
Fort Collins is my home, and I hope it will continue to be in the years to come. But the town I love is facing significant growing pains that are creating real struggles for many of us ordinary folks. I am running for Mayor because the often overlooked, marginalized, and hard-working people of Fort Collins need representation. The residents who know and love the neighborhoods they live in need representation. The wildlife in and around our city that is being threatened by the rapid pace of growth need representation.Elected office is a privilege granted by the voters. I am running to return that principle to the work of the City Council.As Mayor, I will work tirelessly to involve all stakeholders when making decisions that will affect everybody living in and around our city, especially our current residents who often feel unseen and unheard by City government. Why I’m Running for Mayor of Fort Collins
Unfortunately, too many people that I have spoken with over recent years have felt unheard and disappointed by many of the decisions that our city leaders are making. They say that our city leaders often seem much more interested in accommodating developers and other powerful interest groups than in listening to and addressing the needs of their constituents.
