Hi,
Thank you for getting back to me.
Yes, the County dept on Aging does provide chore vouchers and those can be used for plowing after a snowstorm.
The problem is (1) lack of availability of people to plow, (2) cost of people to plow and (3) inability of people with ATV-mounted plows to manage snow requiring truck-mounted plows.
Communities nationwide are handling these problems by allowing their road crews that plow community streets/roads to plow private driveways belonging to seniors and disabled persons based on income level. The purpose of this is to prevent the need for emergency services such as when seniors have heart attacks, strokes and incur injuries trying to plow their driveways, as well as the dangers involved in cutting off seniors and disabled people from not only not being able to get out but preventing emergency services, delivery services and other important needs from getting in.
Dave Andrews, who is in charge of plowing the roads of Pinewood Springs, has confirmed that Larimer County contracts with a local "road company" (see attached) and I am asking that the County consider contracting with this "road company" to assist seniors and disabled people who need help by plowing their driveways after they have plowed the roads.
Many communities nationwide already have these services including other communities in Colorado.
I do not have a complete list of all who do, and did not keep records of all the newspaper and magazine articles I have read in the past about them. I  looked online and found a few for your reference:

Updated Dec. 19, 2024.

https://www.crgov.com/FAQ.aspx?QID=1146

SENIOR DRIVEWAY PLOWING: If you are 62 or older, or handicapped and living alone and would like your driveway plowed, you must come into the Public Works Office and complete the “Snow Plow Waiver.” Without this waiver your driveway will not be plowed. Please remember, senior plowing occurs only after a 2 inch snowfall and after all the village streets are plowed and salted.

snow from my sidewalk?

Older adults who are unable to clear snow from their sidewalks may receive assistance through the Cultivate SnowBusters Program.

https://bouldercolorado.gov/services/snow-and-ice-response

Snowbusters – Assist older adults in Louisville with snow shoveling this winter.  Contact Katie Tofte at by phone 303.335.4919 or email KTo...@LouisvilleCO.gov  for more information.

And many more.

Please look into this. It would help keep seniors and disabled people safe if the County would work with the Aging dept and the "local road company" to get driveways plowed so no one is stranded without necessary care and services because of a snowstorm.

Thanks.

Robin

p.s. Irene Josey helped me with making my property tax payment. She told me the due dates and how to make the payment online. She was awesome.
