Division Goal Update

As of July 14th, 2024, our division has achieved:

  • 603.62 / 7,000 service hours (8.6%)

  • $213.81 / $5,000 raised for PTP (4.3%)

  • 0 / 250 dues-paid members (0%)

We are behind our goal, so make sure to get those service hours in through the many events your club hosts and support PTP through your fundraisers!

Rocks for Tots

For our FIRST division-wide service event, we’ll be having a chill rock painting event! It’ll be split up into San Jose/Milpitas and Fremont/Union City locations for easier accessibility.

San Jose/Milpitas

WHEN: Sunday, July 28th | 1:00pm to 3:00pm

WHERE: Berryessa Branch Library

Fremont/Union City

WHEN: Sunday, July 28th | 10:00am to 12:00pm

WHERE: Lake Elizabeth

The event is still in planning, but BEE on the lookout for a flyer and RSVP link soon for the event!

Service Committee

If you’re looking for ways to get involved in the division and leadership roles beyond your home club, you can apply for the service committee–applications are open until July 26 @ 11:59pm. As part of the service committee, you will assist the service coordinators in planning more division-wide service events such as the Rocks for Tots event! Apply at tinyurl.com/d12eservice24 today!

Recognition Opportunities

We have publicized about this recently as part of our Mighty Monday series, but if you’re planning on applying for a contest, make sure to start applying now. These are great opportunities to boost your resume and receive a certificate, medal, or plaque to flex to others!

Here’s a breakdown of contests that you can apply for:

Executive Officers (President / VP / Secretary / Treasurer)

Marvin J. Christensen (anyone can apply for this to recognize an advisor)

Newsletter, Website, Poster, Video (mainly for editors)

Single Service and Major Emphasis (service project types)

Year-in-Review, Traditional & Digital (portfolios of your club’s work throughout the year)

Sandy Nininger & Talent (for members)

Member of the Year

Advisor of the Year

Most Improved Club

Club Attire

IN ADDITION: there is the Member Recognition Program, that gives out automatic awards to members who have satisfied a certain number of requirements. You must be dues-paid and satisfy the service hour minimum for each tier, as well as complete a certain number of additional requirements. More detailed info here:

Suggestion Box

If you ever have any suggestions as to how the division can improve, have specific feedback for events, or just want to tell me something, fill out the division feedback form! The form notifies me when someone submits a suggestion, so I will definitely be receiving the feedback. In addition, the form is completely anonymous, so I won’t see who submits the feedback. Find the feedback form here: tinyurl.com/d12esuggestionbox24

District Goals Update

As of July 14th, 2024, our district has achieved:

  • 14,204/425,000 service hours (3.3%)

  • $5,691.32/$175,000 raised for PTP/YES! Initiative (3.2%)

July SOSP: BEE Clean, CNH!

The July SOSP is cleaning the Earth, so work on projects that help nurture and restore our planet and promote sustainability to those around you.

Some event ideas:

  • Hold a “Plogging Run,” a run originating in Sweden where you clean up the streets around you while you exercise (run)

  • Help renovate a community garden

    • You could see if your local elementary school has a garden you can help renovate

  • Have clean-up events at parks or other public facilities

  • Host a tree-planting event or find an organization that does it (Our City Forest does one!)

  • Make bird feeders

  • Start a sustainability campaign at your school (once it starts). Maybe work with your school to have a recycling team that sorts recyclable materials and makes sure that trash and recyclable materials aren’t mixed up

July Newsletter

The District releases its newsletter at the start of every month. You can access the July newsletter at issuu.com/cnhkc! It covers introductions to all of our committees and introductions to district initiatives such as YOF grants and goals!

Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day

On July 25th, participating Dairy Queen locations across the country will be having their annual Miracle Treat Day, where Dairy Queen will $1 or more per blizzard sold on that day to one of our preferred charities, the Children’s Miracle Network! The location in Campbell is participating, so if you happen to be near it or another participating on that day, please try to support this fundraiser!

If you do participate, make sure to post your blizzard on your story and tag @cnh_keyclub and use #miracletreatday24 to be featured on the district account!

District Convention 2025

Here is some additional information for DCON 2025. Please mark your calendars:

WHEN: April 25-27, 2024

WHERE: Ontario Convention Center | Ontario, CA

THEME: Tangled in Service

If you are interested, the logo design contest is OPEN! The deadline is July 26th @ 6:00pm PST, and you can submit it at tinyurl.com/DCONLOGO2025! Guidelines can be found here:

KCTC Recap

Most of this information can be found in my KCTC email sent a week ago, but I just wanted to give a quick recap:

Photos can be found HERE. Make sure to tag the photographer for any photos you post!

Workshop presentations can be found HERE. I highly recommend looking through at least the officer workshops for positions you are in or interested in!

If you have feedback specifically for KCTC, please fill out this form. For larger events, there are dedicated feedback forms, but for any other events, you can just fill out the division feedback form at tinyurl.com/d12esuggestionbox24

Thank you to all those who attended! We hope to see you in future events such as FRN, RTC, and DCON!

RTC & FRN Information

As a reminder, Region Training Conference will be held October 12-13 at Camp Jones Gulch. The theme will be HORROR (so our RTC will be HORROR-TC)! As a quick summary, this event is an overnight science camp-like event with all divisions in the Bay Area, and there is a bonfire, educational workshops, and bonding and spirit unlike at any other event!

Closing

If you're still with me, thank you for reading until the end! I'm super grateful for all of your hard work in giving back to the community and can't wait to see the great things you do for the rest of July and August! As always, feel free to reach out to me about anything, Key Club related or not!
