Hi everyone,

Ryan and I would like to release Kite 1.0 this week. The intent here is to have a release with a stable API that we are happy with: this is essentially the same as the API in the last release, 0.18.0.

There is only one blocker at the moment, but there are a few more open issues that we would like to get in if possible. The full list is here:

If there are any other blockers then please update the JIRA or send an email. All being well, we'd like to perform the release on Tuesday.

Thanks,
Tom

So naturally things come out of the woodwork on the eve of a release. We found that Crunch (and MapReduce in general) isn't honoring the reader schema as we'd expect when users specify a record type that may not be identical to what's stored in the dataset. Details and a pull request are in CDK-927. I suppose this would be nice to have in 1.0 but can wait until 1.0.1 if it introduces much risk.

Thanks for fixing that Ryan. I pulled it into the 1.0 release.

I've now staged the release [1] and documentation [2], so please have a look before I finalize the release later today.

Thanks,
Tom

Fine for the moment. Once files get checked in, we'll want to add the TOC and update the sidebar to reflect new content.

It doesn't look like the datasets overview rewrite replaced the existing
content:
http://kitesdk.org/docs/1.0.0/Kite-Data-Module-Overview.html

We should remove that page and add a redirect to the new datasets intro.

I've updated the site with Dennis' changes so it links to the new content: http://kitesdk.org/docs/1.0.0
