Can kite read gz compressed file to Parquet ?

Hi All, 

I have 500GB GZ compressed file on my edge node I would like to convert to parquet while writing to hdfs I saw few tutorials in kite which can read csv file from edge node and write to hdfs as parquet can it read gz file without me uncompressing it on edge node ?
