Can someone who is seeing this problem try the Canary build?
The current Canaries contain a fix for handling disconnects during the
authentication process that might address what you are seeing.

So far so good with the Canary build, I have not seen this problem yet. How
soon until these changes get released?

Same here, we only see the error in chrome. It started a month or two ago.
Seems only to happen when the user submits Apache's basic auth form.
Server: Apache 2 with basic auth
Client: XP SP3, Chrome 11.0.696.68
Me just happy our product official don't support Chrome.
I'm also using Version 11.0.696.60 and have the same problem.
Many of my clients report this problem. Is it posible that i can have them
a date when this will be fixed.
Thanks
I asked the same question...The silence was deafening!
@28, @29 - This is a regression which has been fixed in Chrome 12..
So!.... when is it going to be released for those of us using V11. Your
answer lacks detail.
V12 should be released sometime around mid June, V11 was released on April
27 and Chrome stable version is released very 6 weeks..
Issue 83699 has been merged into this issue.
I was seeing similar issues on latest chrome. Switching to chrome-beta
solved my problem. (742.68 beta-m)
I handle moderation on three sites run by the same company. All of them are
designed and maintained by the same person.
One site never manifests this error. One does so only when I try to access
the back end from a link in Gmail after receiving an automatic "flagged
comment" notice. And one site always manifests this error, which is why I
have to run another browser side-by-side with Chrome.
*****Dear Google, why is it taking so long to fix this nontrivial
problem?*****
A further note: I tried refreshing the page. It didn't get rid of the
error. However, after I did the refresh, the username & password entry box
manifested an erratic new behavior, instantly popping down again with its
fields empty when you try to log in.
The fix for this issue will be released between June 7th to June 9th when
stable version 12 is released.
I encountered exactly same problem same as #41 and #42
Same here for me with Chome 12.0.742.122 and Google Plus not loading.
Reseting the dns cache on chrome://net-internals/#dns did not help.
(net::ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED)
I am running Chrome VS 15.0.874.121 and I am getting this error globally.
This webpage is not available
The webpage at https://mail.google.com/mail/?hl=en&shva=1#inbox might be
temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error 15 (net::ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED): Unknown error.
Have tried refreshing, closing, restarting, clearing cache, clearing SSL
state, etc.. Chrome is essentially broken for me right now.
