Accessing usb device on macOS

Hi, I tested our USB foot pedal last year when web USB was experimental and I decided to try it out today on Chrome 61.
The good news is that on Windows 10, I can connect to the device in Chrome from my old test page and it works. Javascript connects to the pedal and gets events. I have not tried Windows 7 yet but from what I hear I doubt it will work. I will report back after more testing.
The bad news is that I am not sure how to go about doing this on macOS. When I connect in Chrome I am presented with the foot pedal in the devices list but clicking the Connect button fails to actually claim the interface. As you can see from the attached screenshot, Javascript is able to see the device but I cannot claim the interface.
Does anyone have experience with getting this to work on macOS?
