Hi everyone,

We plan to remove atrace export of Chrome/WebView C++ instrumentation, and TraceEvent.java (WIP CL).

If you still want to use atrace with Chrome/WebView tracing, the workaround is enabling the Chrome data source in Perfetto in addition to atrace. This works only for Android Q+, which means that the change will remove system tracing support on earlier Android versions.

If you use atrace in Chrome or WebView and have any objections to our plan, please let us know. Otherwise, we will proceed with our plan in a week from now.

Thanks,

Igor

By the way, atrace export in Chrome has been broken for several years (the relevant code hit NOTREACHED).
