Hello,

I run the website for LWF, which is a small academy in Lincolnshire, comprising of two special schools. It has been brought to my attention today that when someone try’s to download anything from our website, it says that it cannot be downloaded securely. All the downloadable items we put on the website are completely secure, and obviously with the current situation we have a lot of home learning resources on there which need to be downloaded for students who are having to self-isolate. How can I make our items secure so they can be downloaded easily? And why has this suddenly come up today?

Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Kind Regards

Heidi Spence

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch.

Without details of the exact error message I'm slightly speculating, but from your description this sounds like mixed content blocking. There's a blog post here which gives the background.

It's likely that your website is a mixture of pages which are reachable over HTTP (which is not encrypted) and HTTPS (which is encrypted). You should ensure that downloads are all over HTTPS (and ideally the entire website is entirely HTTPS).
