In testing the dialog, there's been a couple of times where I've tabbed into a field, entered something, and looked at the placeholder of the next field and wondered if I entered the correct information in the field I'm currently in. The only way I can verify this is to select-all and cut the data so I can see the placeholder again.

Not sure this is the best UX to use here. Similar arguments are made at http://www.pardot.com/faqs/forms/placeholders-and-labels/

Cheers,
Jake.

We're still iterating on the UI.  We'll definitely keep this in mind as we do.

Good points, but Isn't that why you're supposed to also use inline feedback to let the user know they've entered the data correctly?

That only works in cases where it's detectable. Eg, "Jake Archibald" could be a valid first address line, "Troon Court" could be a valid name.

Besides, I'd rather help users get it right first time than go through multiple submission attempts.

I'm still really concerned about this. The UI is evolving, we're getting towards beta, but we're still using low-contrast placeholders instead of labels. I go into full screen-scowl just to read it.
