Hi there,

We're working on a project called QR Date, which hopes to help with verifying media by displaying a signed date inside a QR code to be shown in photos and videos, or by playing it out loud as a data stream that can be picked up from the audio track of a video recording.

As we've been discussing some ways to distribute the time source, we bumped into roughtime and it seems like a perfect fit.

We've set up a new server running at roughtime.qrdate.org:2002 on top of int08h's roughenough-server.

We're also working on a TS client to connect to servers, validate and return the responses as JSON. A TS-based server would be neat, but not sure how practical at this point as the other servers seem to do OK.

I have a few questions:

1. I haven't seen any bunched up responses in the wild. Are there any examples of that so we can test the TS implementation of the nonce validation?

2. Are there any opinions on HTTP transports? I saw a little of it was discussed.

Best,
miunau

Apologies, forgot the public key, it is:

0MA7maEQRwZzBkFA2BQObWPLr7DY0RBzDDN3l4gJDhE=

It is also available as a TXT record on roughtime.qrdate.org.

Just as an FYI, if you want to use a TXT record for this, then it might be helpful to add some distinguishing information in the TXT record, for future extensibility.  RFC 5507 section 3.1 has some discussion on this, and RFC 1464 talks about general "attribute_name=attribute_value" formatting as well.

(RFC 5507 section 3 as whole has lots to say about extensibility mechanisms, and RFC 8552 goes into more discussion on the _prefix style of extension.)

Regards,
-Erik
