Hi,

This is a snapshot of what the MUS+ASH team has been working on.

KeyboardShorcutViewer as a standalone app (841020)

The team is code complete for converting the dialog to a standalone app using the WindowService. However certain accessibility features will cause us to fall back to the old version of the app. The team is working on supporting these a11y features on the standalone app.

The testing team has completed a regression run of new KeyboardShortcutViewer app and has approved the feature for launch. As the first step, we will be shipping the feature to M69 Beta Channel. Pending user metrics, the team will decide to launch this in M69 Stable.

Windows Service 2 (aka WS2)

The team has switched the server side of the WindowService to run on Ash's main thread. The previous implementation has been removed. We will continue to use --mash to run the ws2 configuration. Some minor cleanup remains.

Investigating non-Ash code on WS2 (847992)

The team is investigating the feasibility of refactoring non-Ash code to use the WindowService. This is a necessary step before we can separate Ash and the Browser. We are prototyping this by migrating shortcut_viewer running in process, but using WindowService.

Ash Refactoring

The team is continuing to make good progress on ash header refactoring. As of 7/25, we are down to 288 ash includes with tests (vs 309 on 6/20). Excluding test includes, we are at 114 (vs 134 on 6/20). The Browser pass rate with mash enabled is at 91% (vs 90% on 6/20).

thanks!
