Hi,
Happy new year! The team has an exciting 2019 instore for everyone. The team is focusing on Ash refactoring supporting running the mash window service in the browser process . Overall the team is making great progress and addressing blocking bugs for the initial dev trials. In the last few weeks, the team has turned on this feature by default for developer builds. This helped in discovering several bugs from the hardware lab, ChromeOS developers and the testing team. In parallel, the testing team has continued to run tests and filing bugs. Our plan is to start dev trials in the M74 timeframe.
Ash Refactoring
We split the ash refactoring into 2 milestones: running the mash window service in the browser process and supporting mash running in separate process. Overall, we are down to 188 ash includes with tests (vs 210 last week). Excluding test includes, we are at 63 (vs 66 last week).
Mash Window Service in the Browser Process (Status: In progress)
The team is focused on addressing remaining blocking issues for the dev trial. In parallel, the testing team is running tests for verifying Mash Window Service in the Browser Process. The team is also triaging incoming bugs filed.
Here is a summary of the bugs we are tracking:
Mash Window Service outside of the Browser Process (Status: In progress)
As the team winds down refactoring Single Process Mash, the team will be focused on burning down blockers for running Mash in a separate process. It is anticipated that the initial bug count will increase we correctly break down bugs for tracking.
