Hi,
As Addison needs to step back from chairing this group, I've volunteered to take up the chair's position. We
discussed this on this week's call, and got approval from those present. As the call had relatively low attendance, I thought it appropriate to note here as well that if you'd prefer us to find some alternative solution, now would be an appropriate time to propose such.
If I'm approved as chair by the CLDR-TC, I don't intend to implement any great changes to how we've been operating recently, though the minutiae about how agendas are posted etc. may change a bit.
Our
last meeting resulted in a few action points that are pending, beyond what's mentioned below for our next meeting:
- MIH and SFC to consider proposing an alternative to the hour12=true|false option.
- MIH to review whether #1005 is still relevant
We're due to continue our weekly calls as usual; our active focus is on spec updates for the upcoming LDML 48 release. On the agenda for next week:
- Merging #1083, "Include :date, :datetime, and :time with minimal options"
We've been talking about this for a while now, and this preliminary step looks close to having approval. It'll still leave the functions as Draft rather than Stable, given how they rely on Semantic Skeletons, which are still in Tech Preview.
- Merging #1078, "Define time zone values and conversions"
The PR has been updated to account for all of the conversations around it, and should support all of the identified use cases.
- Merging #1068, "Design document for percent formatting"
The document has gotten a bit out of sync with our ongoing conversations around unit and percent formatting, and so has been updated to leave out an explicit proposed design. Our most recent discussions are tending towards recognising percent formatting as "special" the same way that unit and currency formatting is, and adding a dedicated :percent function for it. I may be able to provide a PR showing what that might look like before the meeting.
If you've additional items for the agenda, please reply to this email -- I'll also do the same if such arise.
Eemeli
