NOTE: Blink On April 20th, we'll skip this Fugu Community Monthly sync meeting as many will be meeting in person.

Sync on projects of shared interest

  • Microsoft Lead:

    • Web Install Umbrella bug, UX bug, Discussion doc

      • <install> Element Umbrella bug,

      • navigator.install Origin Trial (OT) reaching final approved milestone – m148

        • Requested an extension

      • <install> OT was approved by security and privacy – targeting m148 – m153

        • Launch will be blocked on the current background install mechanism (shared web contents)

        • Technical design for installing by manifest_url is underway

      • <install> intent to experiment coming soon

      • Limin is working with Tony Conway on publishing on the Chrome Developer blog.

      • Seeking Chat for customer experience, outstanding email

  • Google Lead:

    • Approximate Location API

      • Implementation well in progress, need more spec work and additional impl. ETA 2026/Q2

    • PWA same-origin migration

      • Code nearing complete, ETA M148

    • Install Dialog migration (google private tracker)

      • Still firming up UX design and product requirements, and identifying early code work

      • Expected completion: 2026H1

    • PWA Web Platform Test Support

      • Expanding PWA Chrome Devtools Protocol api still useful?

      • Dan: Proposing for Igalia to work on by adding to hotlist

      • This would help AI dev tooling to work on projects and help fix them.

Topic for general discussion

  • How to watch code changes landing for a given bug.

    • In the past one could watch a public bug and see code changes posted as comments to that bug.

    • AI:(scheib) Request team to include public bug number on CLs for projects with external interest. 

      • 1. Ensure there is a public bug as a child of the internal main project tracking bug.

      • 2. Add the public bug number to CLs that are landing so that the public bug has at least CL history included.
