Hoi folks,
IPng's carrier had a transport switch crash and reboot yesterday,
which caused quite a few networks reaching us via Amsterdam to have
a few minutes of unavailability. It was minor, but this morning I
also got an alert that Halloumi dipped under 90% for the day, with a
timeline coinciding the the outage. I've written a report on
https://status.ipng.ch/public/incidents/philosophic-labyrinth
TL/DR: On Fri Aug 7
20:45:24 2026 (UTC), a transport switch in Amsterdam crashed
and rebooted.
This resulted in loss of connectivity from our Amsterdam NGINX
cluster to the CT Log machines in Zurich.
Timeline:
- 20:45Z the switch
rebooted
- 20:53Z service was
restored
- 21:35Z all traffic
was restored to pre-incident levels.
- The outage lasted
approximately 8 minutes.
Actions:
- Replace switch in
Amsterdam (planned first week of September)
Have a great weekend ahead, I will continue to melt in the
uncharacteristic 34C/95F temperature here in Zurich.
groet,
Pim
