We are pleased to announce the availability of our next generation of RFC6962 compliant logs!  These logs use Trillian with the new PostgreSQL storage backend that is maintained by Sectigo.
  • Elephant and Tiger are our new Production logs, which are intended to replace Mammoth and Sabre.  Shards for the 2025h2, 2026h1, 2026h2, 2027h1, and 2027h2 expiry ranges are currently Pending inclusion in the Chrome and Apple log lists.
  • Dumbo is our new Non-production log, which is intended to replace Dodo.
  • Tigger is our new Test log.  Shards for the 2025, 2026, and 2027 expiry ranges are available, and we welcome Pull Requests to extend the list of Accepted Roots.

No further Mammoth or Sabre shards are planned.  Once the Elephant and Tiger sharks (oops, shards 😆 ) have transitioned to Usable and have proven themselves, we expect to make plans to transition the remaining Sabre and Mammoth shards to Extinct (sorry, Retired 😂 ).  When the original Sabre log transitions from Readonly to Rejected in early June 2025 (as previously announced), Dodo will also go the way of the dodo!

Naming things is hard, but also fun!  Mammoths, sabres, and dodos are extinct in the natural world.  Elephants and tigers are not, but they are the "next generation" (or at least the modern equivalents) of mammoths and sabres.
Also... the PostgreSQL logo is an elephant, both elephants and append-only logs never forget, and both elephants and (Merkle) trees have trunks! 🤣
Lastly, Dumbo is a cartoon elephant, and Tigger is a cartoon tiger.
