I don't have insight into internal Chrome decisions, but according to
https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/refs/heads/main/docs/process/release_cycle.md
"extended stable channel is only available to enterprises, who can
enable it via enterprise policies" and the blog posts about new
extended stable releases only mention Windows and Mac. Most
importantly, the releases don't show up in
https://omahaproxy.appspot.com
, which the bots use to trigger new
tarball builds.
