is there a way to use the trackpoint (red rubber thingy) on a thinkpad running chrome os not just for mouse movement but for scrolling too (by holding the scroll button in the middle, like in windows)?

Trackpoint scrolling should work fine on the Lenovo X131e Chromebook.
Are you having issues with a different Thinkpad?

I have chromium os (hexxeh) on a thinkpad edge E330 and the trackpoint doesn't scroll when holding the middle button.

Can you send me your 'dmesg' output? Also, have you tried a different
Linux distro (ex. Ubuntu) on your E330 and confirmed that scrolling
works OK?

Hi Pat,

I just remembered -- an xorg config file was needed to get Trackpoint
scrolling working. Please try copying the attached file to
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ and rebooting.
20-trackpoint.conf

very cool, for the technically not so inclined:

  1. download the file
  2. start a shell: Ctrl-Alt-T
  3. shell ENTER
  4. sudo su ENTER (password: facepunch)
  5. mount -o remount,rw /
  6. cp /home/chronos/user/Downloads/20-trackpoint.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
  7. reboot
  8. scroll
thanks very much!

I have the feeling that the mouse speed setting doesn't correlate to the trackpoint movement, could this be? my mouse speed in on the highest setting, but it's much slower than on windows 7 in the default settings?
