Hello,
I am contacting you about a potential security issue with my HP Chromebook. Here are my device details:
  • Model: HP Chromebook x360 14b-cd0008ca
  • Product Number: 9U606UA
  • After reviewing the device's verified boot logs, I consistently see the following message: Report UMA metrics: System firmware mismatched OS bundled firmware.
I understand this can sometimes be a temporary message during a normal update cycle.

I had issues with the august 19 update on chromebook.  Even if i did many hard resets, and many internet / usb restoration, i was always ending by having a loop at boot time, with a message saying something like "please do not shut down your chromebook, this update will last about 1-2 minutes".  I ended up by being able to exit this loop as the last one, on august 21 seemed to complete with success.  However now i see this warning in my verified boot logs.

I have already performed basic troubleshooting, including manually checking for updates in Chrome OS and rebooting the device multiple times, but the message persists.

My concern is that this persistent mismatch indicates a failed firmware update. If the system firmware is not updating correctly along with the operating system, my device may be missing critical security patches, leaving it vulnerable.

Could you please help me verify if the firmware is indeed failing to update and guide me on how to resolve this issue to ensure my Chromebook is secure?

Thank you for your assistance.
