I hope this is the right place to ask about this.

ASUS chromebook flip C101PA (9901.77.0)

On startup "Chrome OS is missing or damaged" screen immediately.
Tried to use recovery boot, with USB made from chrome recovery utility app.
But when the USB is inserted, the screen goes immediately to black, and nothing else happens.

Tried to cycle a few Hard resets but still the same issues occur. Have used 2 different USBs and 1 SD just to test my options.

Any other options to get the laptop working again?

Thanks

have you tried the 'battery cutoff' sequence? When executed it completely powers off the device, and it might help to take the security chip out of this lockout state.

Just for a reference, the battery cutoff sequence is as follows:

- pull out everything from both USB-C ports.
- plug in AC power adapter cord into one of the USB-C ports
- press and hold together the power button and the refresh key; while holding both pressed, pull out the AC charger USB-C cord

the device might start booting in recovery mode, but is supposed to completely shut off within a few seconds. To make sure that the cutoff was successful try pressing the power button again, the device should not boot up.

Then plug back in the AP charger cord and press the power button again, this would remove the battery cutoff condition and the device should boot back to chrome OS.

Holy .... It worked!
Took me a few tries with awkward arm placements (tough power button position).
For curiosity, what would cause the security chip to get locked out?

and THANK YOU!
Hope you are enjoying your holidays!
