Hi everyone,
I tried to get my Acer Chromebook 13 (the one with Nvidia Tegra K1) into developer mode, but it did not work. I got to the screen where it allegedly worked on preparing the system for dev mode, but for some reason, it failed. I don't remember the exact error text, and am not overly eager to try it again before I know why it failed, but it seemed stuck. I therefore rebooted, and it went back to "regular mode". Any idea what's causing this? And have anyone else tried something similar? It is working properly apart from this issue. Cheers.
/Anders

please try the dev mode transition and when it fails, post the actual text here
you shouldn't worry about failures in this step as it's not like it's possible to break your device. you can always recover/switch back to normal mode.

Okay, I tried again, and the text in the upper left corner is: /sbin/clobber-state: 1: pv: Input/output error
Hope it means something to you :)

Hi,
I have the exact same error (also working on Acer 13). Apart from this everything seems fine. Suprisingly, I found only two topics on web about this issue (including this one).
Running Linux and some nice IDE was the main reason i bought this notebook, so big sad face :(

Hello,
Just to add some weight to the post: I have also the same problem (same error text) on the same notebook.
I remember it was working some years ago when I did it, but after a powerwash and some chromeos update, it doesn't anymore. Could be a clue.
Michael.

Hi,
Having same problem with model acer chromebook 13 cb5-311. When I activate dev mode, crouton and linux works fine. Then if I want to reboot again, chromeos download special "dev" update and hanging while installing it. Even if I change nothing with crouton, after dev mode activation, chromeos hangs on update. I suppose only way is turn off updates...

Solved problem. Powerwash, boot normally. Turn on dev mode, reboot, ctrl + D, load OS. Go to settings, wait dev build to download. Reboot again, wait for update being stuck, reboot again, Ctrl+D, boot normally, and dev mode successfully installed somehow!
