Hello,

I recently purchased an HP 11" Chromebook (G3, Intel). It's great, but I also wanted to be able to boot into other operating systems occasionally. So I tried developer mode, and followed all of the instructions (including dev_boot_usb=1, dev_boot_signed_only=0 and dev_boot_legacy=1). Yet when I get to the boot "verification is turned off" screen and press Ctrl-U or Ctrl-L I only get beeps and nothing happens. With Ctrl-L it's two quick beeps and nothing happens on screen. With Ctrl-U the screen goes black briefly and then slowly refreshes with the boot screen and emits a single beep (I have a bootable lubuntu USB stick inserted).

Is there something special about this model of HP? It seems to have SeaBIOS ability.

Chrome version: 46.0.2490.71
Release description: 7390.61.0 (Official Build) stable-channel kip
CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU N2840 @ 2.16GHz
hardware_class: KIP C5A-G6N-F3I-A2D

If this is not the correct forum for this type of request, can you please point me at the correct one.

Thanks.

i don't know of the status of SeaBIOS on kip (rambi based devices), but they were supposed to work.  could be that your firmware does not include it.  how do you know that "It seems to have SeaBIOS ability" ?  if you hit CTRL+L, it shouldn't have beeped, it should have gone to a different screen.

note that CTRL+U won't boot non-CrOS images, only CTRL+L will
