I have a monitor contented via HDMI on my Acer C7 and it makes the screen 1280x7xx. But the resolution on my monitor is 1366x786 and I see no way to change it.

you can try with the command xrandr, I used in chromium os with good results except making the changes permanent. Follow the steps described here
