Every reference I can find points to this chromium page which, to my knowledge, hasn't changed in over 7 months with the exception of adding 2017 as the possible range. It lists 3 machines that are supported and over 60 which are not.  And I imagine, new hardware is coming out every day, some of which is supported and some not.

Of course, it seems fair to provide some extra time for OS development projects like this, but I, for one, bought my Chromebook (which happens to be an Acer Chromebook 15 CB5-571) including high-end options to be able to support other apps based on the promise of being able to run other apps.

I specifically do not want to have  to switch to Developer mode to do so.

Could Google respond to this post to let this forum to confirm its intentions and to update its timelines?  In addition, might the page identified above also get a notice on which to share the same information?

Respectfully,

Akiva

Totally agree.  I gave an Acer CB3 with access to Play Store but no Apps work in development mode.  A rough time frame would be nice!

Still waiting and same problem with the LG Chromebase models in both developer and beta modes still without Google Play compatibility.

I totally agree! I just bought a Medion S2013 for development purposes and making my apps ready for Chromebook, and nothing happens. This is more than disappointing! Reading through articles a launch was already targeted for end of 2016, now we're in 2017 and even in developer mode I can't access anything.

this is google we are talking about here so things take longer then expected but i would say stable should hopefully be ready soon maybe well see something at google i/o but if you have android apps what you could do is use them and report any bugs and maybe volunteer in fixing those bugs.
