Is it a C710 or C720? (The title said C710 but your text said C720)

C710 shipping firmware does not support legacy boot, so there's no SeaBIOS.

Just got a refurbished c720 and I've been pulling my hair out over this.  It seems like SeaBIOS doesn't exist at all on there.  I'm in developer mode.  I did:

# crossystem dev_boot_usb=1 dev_boot_legacy=1

but ctl-l does nothing at all.  I hit tab and I see "dev_boot_usb=1" but the next line is "dev_boot_signed_only=0."  The line for legacy mode isn't even there.

I found some people had to reflash SeaBIOS so I tried that:

# flashrom -w ./bios.bin -i RW_LEGACY

gives me:

flashrom v0.9.4  :  e545493 ...
The Flash Descriptor Security Override Strap-Pin is set. Restrictions implied
by the FRAP and FREG registars are NOT in effect.  Please note that Protected
Range (PR) restrictions still apply.
Invalid entry specified: RW_LEGACY
FAILED

Please help.  I got this thing for school so I could run Eclipse on it.

Thanks. I realized this moments afterwards which is why I deleted the threads.

You can only currently (easily) boot anything other than Chrome-OS on
the C710 by using a 3rd party BIOS, such as the one build by John Lewis.

Cheers,

Tim.
