It may not seem like a ChromeOS issue, but as a Cr48 user using sync,
one quickly realizes how everything depends on everything else
working. I'm on the Navy's NMCI network at work, and only use my Cr48
at work for ssh (because it's the only way I can get unrestricted
access to port 22). But I still use chrome and chromium on my work
machine and try to keep everything synced. Only problem there is that
someone somewhere decided to block access to the Chrome update
servers, so I can't actually get Chrome, except for the stand-alone
installer. But that hasn't been updated in a very long time, so sync
is only partially functional and apps don't exist.
Why don't I just use Chromium? I mix the two because Chromium doesn't
come with Flash bundled, and NMCI won't let me install it, but the
registry won't allow Chrome to run unless I change the name of the
executable, so I change the name of the executable, but then Chrome
crashes every time an extension (like Xmarks) opens a new window.
So my current setup at work is
*Chrome 5.0.375.99 renamed as fuzz.exe (has Flash, occasionally
crashes, syncs poorly)
*Chromium 10.0.605.0 (68513) (no Flash, never crashes, syncs like white on rice)
Regards,
Niels
