MobileIron locks down android phones and tablets through the device administrator setting.

But when I try to run by enterprise's implementation of MobileIron android app through a Chromebook (Asus flip in dev mode) it is stuck and can't get past the compliance screen to implement the device administration.  The Settings/Android App Settings/Security where the device admin would usually be found on phones and tablets is not there.

Any suggestions on how to implement MobileIron android app on the Chromebook?

This was really the whole reason I got the Asus Flip  -- to run work email (secured through Touchdown mail client and MobileIron as device admin) as android app.

Otherwise have to go back to regular android tablet with keyboard.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you found a solution to this?  I just ran into this myself.

I got the same problem with Outlook Mobile for Office 365. It wants to push a MDM policy but the option isn't there on the Android part of the Chromebook Plus

It's crazy this was an issue to begin with but even more crazy this problem still exists.  In order to apply and enforce company policies the MDM needs to function as device administrator.  Currently, for reasons beyond my ability to understand, Google doesn't have this functioning.  No app is able to interact with the Android device administrator setting.

You can download apps like activity launcher and create a shortcut to the device admin screen and launch into it but you are unable to make an app a device admin.  This is a HUGE oversight by google.  We'd love to purchase and deploy chromebooks in our enterprise environment but since we can't manage them through our existing solution, we don't, chromebooks are not allowed in our environment.

if people have requests for edu/enterprise features, please raise them with your edu/enterprise contact.  they take care of prioritizing such requests.

The company i work for, as far as i know, have no affiliation or contact with Google or it's employees.  We do not use google for work nor Android for work.  We "officially" deploy windows machines to employees and allow them to enroll their personal devices in our MDM so long as it's compliant.

So with that said if you have a suggestion on a better place to direct that feedback I'm all ears but currently I do not have an enterprise contact.
