Chrome OS Version: Not sure. (Unbootable)
Chromebook Model: PEPPY C6A-R7C-A4V (Acer C720)

Issue:
I broke my installation by running
make_dev_ssd.sh --remove_rootfs_verification --force

I know how to create a recovery stick and recover my chromebook. I've done this several times without a hitch. Unfortunately, every time i recover, I end up losing all my data.
I would like to move all my data from the chromebook before I start the recovery process. Is there a guide/way to facilitate this?

All I need is a shell so I can move the appropriate directories onto an external USB drive.

Your home directory is encrypted so I don't think there's a way to get
it back. Also it's generally a bad idea to run any command with the
--force flag if you don't know exactly what it's going to do. In this
case the --force flag skips all the checks that would have caught the
fact that you were about to make your system unbootable. I'm guessing
in this case that you had the dev_boot_signed_only flag set, which is
something that crouton does by default and does not play well with
removing rootfs verification.
