Change Board Name

Good Morning All,

I have a bit of a strange problem. I purchased a refurbished Acer Chromebook Spin 713 (Voxel) however I noticed that the chrome://system is reporting that this is a Chromebook 713 (Kindred). I have double checked and the processor (i5-10210U CPU) was indeed placed into the Voxel, not the Kindred.

What is the best way to change the board name back to what it should be?

I think you might indeed have a Kindred, not a Voxel. Kindred devices are from the "Hatch" family, which use 10th gen Intel processors like your i5-10210U. An i5 Voxel (from the "Volteer" family) should have something like an i5-1135G7.

Acer made a Spin 713 with 10th Gen CPU in 2020 and 128GB storage in 2020 and in 2021 with 11th gen CPU and 256GB storage.

That is indeed a bit strange.

I checked the recovery.conf file and these are the two 'Acer Chromebook Spin 713' models listed, a CP713-2W and a CP713-3W:

It would be interesting to see what the 'build details' (chrome://os-settings/help/details) are for that model.
