Help please! Problem recovering Chromebook OS

Hi there, hope someone can help.

I have an HP Pavilion 14 inch chromebook, and it was coming up with the 'Insert Recovery USB' message, I successfully downloaded the recovery software to A 8GB USB but after trying to recover on the Chromebook, the following message appears:

'An unexpected Error has occurred. Please refer to this URL for troubleshooting tips:

google.com/chromeos/recovery

But that site just takes you back to the step by step process instructions and doesn't refer to what I can do with the problem uploading the recovery software. I have tried two different 8GB USBs but with the same message.

Please help! Hope there is something I can do rather than sell on ebay for spares!

This isn't the right place to ask this kind of question as this is the chromium os developers mailing list.

Make sure you are properly putting the recovery image on the usb drive with the program it tells you to use

Then follow the instructions on googles site

"What you need to do
To recover your Chromebook, you'll first create media with the Chromebook recovery app, then reinstall your damaged Chromebook’s operating system.

Install the app on the working computer (not the Chromebook with the “Chrome OS is missing or damaged” error).
Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create the recovery media.
Insert the SD card or USB drive you’ve created into the Chromebook you want to recover.
Follow the on-screen instructions."

Unfortunately, this problem typically indicates some sort of
failure in your Chromebook hardware. You'll need to talk to
HP customer support about your repair options.
