How can an app determine if it's running on a chromeOS flex device?

Is there a way for an app to tell if it's being launched/run on chromeOS Flex instead of on an actual chromebook?

I realize that certain security-type checks will fail on a chromeOS Flex device, but they could fail on a legit chromebook for other reasons, and it would be good to be able to display a dedicated message for the chromeOS Flex circumstance.

what is an "app"? if it's a website or PWA or Chrome extension, there isn't really a way by design.
