Hi,

I would like to use Chrome OS kernel with debian. To achieve this I have decided that I am going to copy the Chrom OS kernel from its partition - Is there any one who can advice me how to extract the kernel from its partition ?

from what do you want to extract the kernel image exactly ?  is it an official Chrome OS device ?  is it a Chrome OS recovery image ?  is it a custom Chromium OS build you made yourself ?  something else ?

Thank you for your response. My idea is to turn my chromebook into developer mode and to extract the kernel from the official Chrome OS or from a Chrome OS recovery image. As I understand the Chrome OS kernel is directly written on one of the partitions. My question is is it possible (and how) to extract it, for example with "dd", and than to use it with debian for example?

probably best to search for extracting kernel from boot image rather than from boot partition. just get a copy of the os image file and then use the tools for extracting the kernel from the boot.img

Hi, I am not sure that I quite understand what you mean. Could you give me a bit more details. What is an OS image file, and where should I get the boot.img from?

you need to do quite a bit of reading to catch-up on exactly what it takes to do what you want. start by using google to search for the chrome OS build for your specific machine. then unpack it. then search for the tools you need to unpack/extract the kernel from the boot.img. then try to do what you say you want to try. you have a bunch of reading to do and a lot to learn , basically, so much to learn it is going to be a lot quicker to just start reading than asking a couple thousand questions. good luck.
