I have a zotac zbox sitting around (dual core 1.66 ghz intel atom with 2 gb of ram) and I have been putting linux distros on, just for fun mostly. Most seem to work no problem, however, I cannot get any of the Hexxeh chromium os builds to work. I burn the iso onto a flash drive, I boot it up, get the chromium splash screen and then it just goes white and does nothing after that. I tried one of the old lime builds and it literally did nothing. Just a blank screen.

I have been able to put chromium os on similar computers before. My wife had an old netbook with nearly identical specs and it all worked just fine. And as i said, every other linux distro I have tried has worked perfectly on this computer. I'm not sure why this never seems to work. It would be cool to have a chromebox, essentially, but so far I haven't come close to getting chromium os to even boot up. All i get is a white or black screen. Any thoughts?

Here are more specific specs on the computer, if needed

Try the builds at chromium.arnoldthebat.co.uk with information at http://arnoldthebat.co.uk/wordpress/chromium-os/.
It sounds like it might be the graphics card or chipset. It is difficult to get most Nvidia and Radeon systems working.

Well that worked, in that I can actually get into chromium os now. The problem is that booting from the USB is almost unusable, since it moves about as fast as a dead slug. Perhaps I need to do more experimenting at a different time or maybe I will just give up and install Joli OS, which really is more or less the same thing.

So sad, I do love chrome os.

Hi,

2013/9/8 Jack Jackson <agac...@gmail.com>
That machine seems to have nvidia ION graphics, which unfortunately Chromium OS doesn't support very well. As you might have noticed you can get it up and running but it'll be very slow.

Does the same issue apply to AMD Radeon HD 6320?

There's been some attempts to enable Radeon but I honestly don't know if it's still working or not. Since the x86 Chromebooks to date all have i915 graphics from Intel it's unfortunately the one that gets most testing and support.

Does anyone know about the Intel GL40 graphics and how well chromiumos supports that?
