Hey everyone,

I have two computers connected to one monitor: Windows PC using DVI, Chromebook using HDMI.

I want to be able to switch between those two inputs without having to use the Input-button on the display (it's in an awkward location, needs multiple hard key presses and it's a horrible user experience basically).

The monitor does automatically switch to the next active input as soon as the current input gets turned off. So, in Windows I was able to write a little .NET script that sends the MONITOR_OFF command. This leads to the HDMI port being selected.

My question: Is it somehow possible to do the same on my Chromebook? I'd like to be able to manually turn off the hdmi output so the monitor goes back to the (by the time active) DVI port again.

Until now, I was only able to "invent" a dirty work-around for this: When I press CTRL+ALT+F2 (="arrow right"), the developer console pops up and HDMI gets disabled until I leave the console again.

But I would prefer to find a solution that works without opening the developer console all the time ;-)

Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks alot!
Markus

On a second thought, it would be even better if it was possible to send the Chromebook into Standby-mode manually. Is there a way to force standby while an external display is connected?
